Social Health Growth (“SHG”) is a charity organization registered with the Commissioner of Charities in 2012. SHG’s vision is to assist low-income families, single parents and unwed mothers to raise their children to be contributing members of the society. Their Gala Dinner, which will be held at Furama Habourfront Hotel on 1 Jun 2023, is their first Gala Dinner after a 3-year hiatus, due to the Covid-19 outbreak. In this special post-Covid 19 occasion, 3 Members of Parliaments have agreed to grace the event.

First is Guest of Honour Ms Tin Pei Ling, MP for MacPherson SMC, who has always been supportive of their activities. SHG’s HQ is located at MacPherson.

Second is Ms Hany Soh, MP for Marsiling-Yew Tee, and on that night, she will be launching their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Programme into their own proprietary Learning Management System (LMS). SHG is the only Social Service Agency (“SSA”) in Singapore to do this. This aligns with the Charity Council’s circular which was sent out to all SSAs in April 2023, encouraging charities to (i) keep their activities environmentally friendly and sustainable, (ii) maintain good relationships with their stakeholders and (iii) maintain high governance standards, & (iv) communicate these ESG activities to their stakeholders.

SHG is a corporate member of United Nations Global Compact and through this, has been actively promoting its Women Empower Leaders program. Along with this new Charity Council’s directive, SHG will ride on its Corporate Membership with GRI to help fellow SSAs and SMEs develop their ESG reporting, by integrating this body of knowledge through their LMS system.

The third special guest is Mayor Fahmi Bin Aliman, South East District, and on this night he will launch SHG’s new Islamic Financial Literacy both through the SHG’s new LMS system, and also at the soon to be established Geylang Serai Centre, which will be SHG’s eighth centre in Singapore. SHG is currently operating its activities out from its seven centres.

These new initiatives that SHG is launching on this Gala Dinner night will be a significant step in SHG’s quest towards attainment of United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) No 4 (Quality Education), SGD No 5 (Gender Equality), and SGD No 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
